"The terracing of the new garden has been carried out using sleepers to a design which does not require any more than three sleepers to show above ground at any point. This requires the creation of several bays, backed by a set of steps on which planters have been placed for effect. Half way down the steep steps, an artificial spring emerges and flows through stone and pebble concrete pools to a round pond at the base. Everything is superbly designed and specified. The whole garden is subtly lit and photos taken during the hours of darkness show this to be very effective. The planting is wide spaced with a fine grade bark mulch applied. Ian Gray has designed and built a showpiece by hand and in difficult conditions."

"This entry is an excellent example of the benefits of a close client/contractor relationship.  As layers of the old garden were peeled away to reveal unforeseen challenges, the client contributed ideas and the contractor was able to accommodate her suggestions and still stay true to the design.  The client and contractor are rightfully delighted with the result of their close co-operation and Auntie Muriel will be pleased with her niece who has now become an enthusiastic gardener."

"Good detailing of hard landscape elements was critical in this project where a large lawn was required for the client's dogs."
