"The terracing of the new garden has been carried out using sleepers to a design which does not require any more than three sleepers to show above ground at any point. This requires the creation of several bays, backed by a set of steps on which planters have been placed for effect. Half way down the steep steps, an artificial spring emerges and flows through stone and pebble concrete pools to a round pond at the base. Everything is superbly designed and specified. The whole garden is subtly lit and photos taken during the hours of darkness show this to be very effective. The planting is wide spaced with a fine grade bark mulch applied. Ian Gray has designed and built a showpiece by hand and in difficult conditions."
